A kind of home

Last Tuesday I went to The Round. We had second row seats to see (be still my heart) Damien Jurado. Also on stage: Pretty Broken Things and Jon Russell (from The Head and the Heart).

The show was beautiful in the awkward, surprising, and sometimes unnerving way The Round can be. Damien Jurado was AMAZING. His music filled the room with cathedral awe; it was distilled, bare, and haunting, like a short story by Raymond Carver.

If you've never been to The Round, go! It's one of my favorite on-going events in Seattle. The people and the space are warm and beautiful. It reminds me why living in this small-town city is so damn cool.

  1. That sounds amazing! I have been wanting to go to the round for a while. Did you like Pretty Broken Things? Scott plays for them sometimes.
